posted November 18, 2011: Hello hello Region 11! First I would like to join Andrew and everyone in Region 11 and welcome Beaver Brea S.S. to the Region! On to Sudbury news - there are two campaigns being launched, Action Sudbury with help from Sudbury OSAID chapters is launching the red ribbon campaign, also the Sudbury police are launching the RIDE campaign. December 2nd and 3rd will be Sudbury Regional workshop where BARNEY BEAR will be attending. It will be hosted at Confederation Secondary School, Val Caron ON, from 4 pm on the friday until 4 pm. He visited Sault Ste. Marie during the recent Region 11 West Workshop. Next, he will be travelling to Sudbury's December Workshop. Barney would like to say to that Youth For Road Safety (YOURS) has a photo competition for everyone. How to participate: Take a photo of yourself and your loved ones while holding an object that depicts 'how you embrace life'. Likewise, people who have been personally affected by road crashes and lost loves ones can take part by taking a photo of themselves with their loved ones photo or their loved one's favorite item. The best and most creative photo will win a $1000 EURO grant and will be announced during World Remembrance Day on November 20, 2011. I would like to thank your Chapter for attending this year's workshop. Everyone had an enjoyable time and got resources to take back to their school. Thank you, Matt Evans, for your humour and motivational presentation. In addition, I would like to acknowledge speakers Kirk Kinghorn and Bev Brazeau for their touching victim impact presentation, Sergeant Mike Davies of Crime Stoppers, Constable Steve Miron of Sault Ste. Marie Police Services, and Peter Reynolds of Dawson & Keenan Insurance. Thank you to our supporters for your generous donations. The students had fun at the Corn Maze at Mockingbird Hill Farm and thank you First Student Canada School Bus Transportation. We had a great time at Northcrest Bowling Lanes. Food was supplied by Tim Horton's, Subway, Metro, and Sun Kwong Restaurant. Thank you food caterers. We would like to mention to all Chapters that OSAID has a free online contest! We are looking for slogans about the dangers of texting while driving. Submit your don't-text-and-drive slogan to have a chance to win either an 8G iPod Nano or a $25 movie voucher. Entries will be accepted until October 24th, 2011. The voting starts on October 28 and closes on November 30. Get your OSAID chapter ( and everyone else at the school, too) involved by participating in this contest. Welcome to our new Region 11 Rep, Jerret and Assoicate, Andrew! Here' Jerret's first blog... Good day Region 11! I'm Jerret your new Region 11 Representative, along with my Region 11 associate Andrew. We're enthusiastic about everything OSAID has to offer and we're going to try to do the best job in representing our Region. We will do everything we can to be exceptional for our Region. We have many plans for the coming year that we will be filling you in on as often as possible. We are both hosting a regional workshops, one in Sudbury and one in Sault St. Marie, and if everything goes as planned perhaps a live web chat between the workshops to get to know everyone. Fundraisers will happen at least once a month and we will be hopefully making presentations at different schools around our region and try to get more chapters to bring to Conference.
